Five days after returning home from Portugal, it was time for yet another 4th of July bash. We enjoyed hosting our Rock, Flag and Eagle Extravaganza for friends and neighbors so much last year, that we decided to make it an annual event. Like last year, we were blessed with perfect warm weather and sunshine. Although many of our friends were traveling during this time and not able to attend, we still had a larger turn-out than last year and with everyone's willingness to pitch in, a delicious feast. In addition to burgers, dogs, numerous sides, desserts and even a salsa bar, we had drinks galore, a reading by Jon of the Declaration of Independence, an ultimate death egg and spoon relay race, a water balloon toss and for the finale, a pinata-bashing (kid-themed and adult-themed). It was an absolute blast and I think our Dutch neighbors get a kick out of seeing a bunch of adults acting like children during the games. As usual, Jon and I are so busy hosting that we never think to take pics while the party is in full swing, but here are some pics of the decorations and set-up for the party.

We couldn't be happier to celebrate such a special U.S. holiday with our friends and neighbors while living abroad and are already looking forward to next year.... Rock, Flag and Eagle III!
